Matt always loved watching circus & the incredible athletic feats the performers could achieve but he never thought he would be able to do such astounding things personally. Then one spring day a friend told him of a silks & rope evening class she had recently started. Matt was awe-struck & gladly accepted when his friend needed a class covered. He loved it so much that he became a regular. Starting with a single class one evening a week, Matt expanded his skills through more classes, workshops & self-training.
Now, Matt is trained in most forms of aerial artistry but the ones he enjoys the most & specialises in are silks & straps. When working solo he adores spins & drops but Matt also particularly relishes performing doubles on any equipment.
For Matt, the best thing about aerial is the enjoyment! Despite the occasional pain & the hard work, it is incredibly rewarding. Aerial is excellent all-round exercise & infinitely more fun than going to the gym. No matter how much you study & learn, there is always something new.
When not in the air, Matt will often be practising a ground-based circus skill such as juggling, acro-balance, hula or poi. Outside of the world of circus, he loves nature & learning new things; enjoying travelling, museums & long walks in the countryside. To help further expand his horizons, Matt is currently training to be a massage therapist. Historically, a geek was a fool or a circus freak & Matt can fit these definitions as well as the current one; happily immersing himself in the worlds of cinema, fantasy & science fiction.
